Two-Step Pound Cake



4 cups all-purpose flour

3 cups sugar

2 cups butter, softened

¾ cup milk

6 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract


Step 1
Place the ingredients and mix. Preheat the oven to 325°. Place flour, sugar, butter, milk, eggs and vanilla (in that order) in a 4qt bowl of a heavy electric mixer. Beat at low speed for 1 minute, stopping to scrape the sides. Beat at medium speed for 2 minutes.

Step 2
Pour and bake. Pour into a 10-inch (16-cup) floured and greased tube mold and smooth down. Bake at 325° for 1 hour and 30 minutes or until a long wooden stick stuck in the middle is clean. Cool in the pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes. Remove from the pan to the wire mesh and let it cool down completely (about 1 hour).
